Bevo Pay FAQ's

Students

  • Why do I want to have Bevo Pay?
Bevo Pay is a prepaid account that students can access from their UT ID cards, much like a debit card. Bevo Pay is designed to increase safety and convenience. Students always have their ID cards with them, making Bevo Pay accessible at all times. If something happens to your ID card, you can immediately deactivate it to protect your Bevo Pay funds.
  • Can students withdraw cash from their Bevo Pay?
Although Bevo Pay funds on a student’s ID card function like a debit card, students cannot withdraw cash from their Bevo Pay account. Bevo Pay funds are refundable when students graduate or have a break in enrollment from The University of Texas at Austin for at least one year. At the time Bevo Pay is refunded, please know that any unpaid debt to the University will be deducted from the balance of the account.
  • What is the minimum amount of Bevo Pay funds that can be added?
There is no minimum amount of funds required. When Bevo Pay funds are added to a student’s account, a bill is created. The bill can be paid on the student’s What I Owe page.
  • What happens if I have a Bevo Pay bill in the system and I decide not to pay it?
Funds that were added but left unpaid can be removed at https://utdirect.utexas.edu/bevobucks/remove.wbx.
  • What if a restaurant or store that I frequent is not in the program?
You can suggest a merchant you would like to see accept Bevo Pay by sending an email to bevopay@austin.utexas.edu. We will reach out to merchants suggested to us and provide them with information about the Bevo Pay program.
  • What if a restaurant or store overcharges my Bevo Pay account?
Go back to the place of business where you were overcharged and have them process a credit to your Bevo Pay account. Always ask for a receipt and verify the amount.
  • How can I pay for Bevo Pay on my Tuition and Fee Bill?
You can add a bill for Bevo Pay funds at any time before your Tuition and Fee bill is created. The Bevo Pay bill will appear at the bottom of your Tuition and Fee bill with your other miscellaneous charges. Pay this as you normally would and when the Bevo Pay bill is paid, funds will be applied to your Bevo Pay account.
  • Why do vending machines look for 5 cents more than the cost of the product?
The vending machine card readers check to see if your account balance is $0.05 more than the most expensive item in the machine, then only charges you for your selection.
  • How can I find out what my balance is?
    • You can find your balance by clicking here https://utdirect.utexas.edu/bevopay/menu.WBX
    • You can also try swiping your ID card at a vending machine and cancelling the sale. Your balance will scroll across the LCD display.

Parents

  • Why should I put money in my student's Bevo Pay account?
When you add funds to your student's debit account, you ensure that the money is used for essentials such as school materials, personal care items and food. Your student benefits by having a convenient, safe and cash-free transactional method. Because every student already has a UT ID card, you do not need to sign up for any extra accounts, and there are no maintenance fees, minimum balances or transaction charges.
  • What is eProxy and can I check my student's debit account balance and transactions?
You can but only if you are an eproxy for the Bevo Pay system.

A proxy is a person authorized to act for another person. An eProxy is someone who has obtained a UTEID and has been granted the authority to access another person's electronic records through the web services offered here at UT. An eProxy is authorized by service (so you may be authorized for one service but not another), and each authorization is valid for up to one year as specified by the granter.

Students can grant eproxy status to others who may view their housing statement and other bills online. eProxy is a system that allows students to authorize others to view information about them and pay bills for them. Students can authorize their parents or guardian to view their Housing Status, Housing Bill Information, Dine In Dollars Balance and Dine In Dollars Transactions. Students can also authorize their parents to pay bills online and add funds to their Dine In Dollars or Bevo Pay accounts.
These authorizations are valid for electronic (web) services only, and do not apply to communications with the university by phone, by mail, in person or by any other method.

  • What happens if the student's ID Card is lost or stolen?
Anyone who has lost their UT ID card or has had it stolen should report it immediately so that it can be deactivated. Replacement ID cards can be obtained at the ID Center during normal office hours. Photo identification will be required. A $10 fee will be charged for all replacement cards. The bill can be seen on the student’s What I Owe page. Visit Lost/Stolen ID Deactivation for more information.
  • What's the difference between Bevo Pay and Dine In Dollars?
